Love is in da blog prompt 2: Romeo and Juliet

With me returning to The University of Texas at San Antonio on February 1st along with me still doing deliveries for Favor, I am way behind on my #LovIsInDaBlog posts for 2021. For bee’s 2nd prompt she gave us Romeo and Juliet and I have chosen the version by Mark Knoepfler and Emmy Lou Harris from their Roadrunning Tour. I am not going to lie, there is not a poetic bone in my body so I doubt you will se any poems from me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

#SoCS 7/11/2020 – Send me an Angel

Today Linda has given us “SONG” as our prompt for #SoCS with the following: “First, find a picture–the closest one to you. Your prompt is the title and/or the lyrics of the first song that comes to mind when you look at the picture.”

This picture hangs above my desk on the left hand wall. It was given to me probably 15 years ago by one of my best friends Martha, she and I have been best friends since we worked together at SITEL Corporation in 1999. It is the first picture I saw as I read the prompt from Linda. The first song I thought of was Send Me An Angel by Real Life from 1983. The video below is from 1989 and the song and video were played widely in 1989 and 1990 when I first moved to San Antonio after being released to a halfway house.

In 1999, who would have thought that indeed I would be sent an angel in the form of my Cruzer. We met through friends in 1997 and then lost touch for a few years. He was going through a tough time in January 2001 when he called 411, you remember information – right, to find my number because he just needed a friend to talk to. It was like we picked up where we never even started or left off – and here we are almost 19 1/2 years later and we are still together.

He has seen me at my best and at my worst and yet he has loved me through it all. I could not ask for a better friend and husband. My Higher Power whom I choose to call God truly did send me an angel!!

#1LinerWeds 6/3/20 – We all bleed the same

For today’s #1LinerWeds I want to remind everybody “WE ALL BLEED THE SAME” in this time of strife and unrest in the United States as well growing globally due to the racial inequality of people of color by those few police officers that choose to use excessive force including the US Attorney General William Barr who gave the order to use tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the PEACEFUL protestors from Lafayette Park across from the White House so the current occupant could have a photo op.

Your Black Friend Is Trying to be okay!!!

I friend of mine on Facebook posted this today and she simply copied and pasted it as I am here. Very powerful suggestions here. I hope everyone will take these words to heart during this stressful time in the United States.

Your black friend is trying to be ok.

Your Black friend in the past 30 days has watched a Black man get shot dead while jogging (Ahmaud Arbery), a Black woman get shot dead while sleeping (Breona Taylor), and the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer. Your Black friend has also listened to the President of the United States use segregationist words as a veiled threat.

Your Black friend is trying to be ok.

Please don’t ask us about the looting.
Please don’t chastise us about the rioting.
Please don’t tell us that all lives matter.
Please don’t minimize our fear.
Please don’t bring up Black on Black crime.
Please don’t ask “What about Chicago?”
Please don’t say “if you’d just act like (A Wildly Successful Black Person… Usually Oprah, Obama, Colin Powell, Denzel or Will Smith)”. Please don’t judge us

Your Black friend is trying to be ok.

Listen to your Black friend.
Empathize with your Black friend.
Support your Black friend.
Pray for your Black friend.
Pray with your Black friend.

Just let your Black friend know you really care.

Your Black friend will remember who truly had their back during this difficult time. They will remember who was more concerned about a looted Target. They will remember you posting a thinly veiled and racially offensive meme. They will remember you calling looters “Savages”. They will remember your silence about their Black life and the Black Lives of others.

It’s real easy.

Do whatever you can to help your Black friend out because your Black friend is trying to be ok…..

**Copied and pasted…please pass on!

Playing Catch Up – Love Is In Da Blog 2020 – Day 4

Day 4 was for a Love song for your first love for #LoveIsInDaBlog. I have chosen “The Dance”  by Garth Brooks. This song epitomizes every single relationship that I have had from my fiancé Dawn Renee Larson when I was 18 and knew I was at least bisexual as did she to my now 19 year marriage to the most wonderful man that God could have ever brought into my life, My Cruzer!!!!

“L” is for – Living, Laying, Letting and Love!!

#AtoZChallenge 2019 Tenth Anniversary blogging from A to Z challenge letter

#AtoZChallenge “L”

I am proud of the fact that as a Catholic Christian, everyday I am a testament to God’s grace and love. I am also proud that everyday I am striving to live and hold on to the Living Word of God as evidenced in the song of the same name by Jeremy Camp.

Everyday I must remember that I need to be  “Laying down my pride” when dealing with anything that I think is unfair because I know that my Higher Power whom I chose to call God has my back!!!! Lay Down My Pride – Jeremy Camp

As a recovering alcoholic and addict that is also thriving not just surviving with HIV/AIDS, being bipolar and bouts with deep depression, it is so important that I do remember that sometimes it is okay to be Letting go!!  Jeremy Camp’s Letting Go!!!

It amazes me every day that even when I am not my best self and when I feel like all is for naught, I am always reminded that 1) my God does love me and has a purpose for me although I do not know what it is; 2) I am truly blessed with a man who has loved me from day one even with all of my blemishes and faults; 3) I have the most loving and supportive family and friends without whose support and love, who knows where I would be!!!! So yes, “What Have I Done to Deserve Love Like This???” – Lauren Daigle

Love Is In Da Blog 1 – “All of Me” – John Legend

I stumbled onto this blogging challenge on February 12th and I am so glad that I did. I have decided to go back to all of the prompts from the beginning on February 1st and make my submissions. I hope that everyone enjoys them.

For this first prompt, I have chose a beautiful testament of love form John Legend to his wife Crissy Tiegen – “All of Me”. I chose this song because the words speak to me and they are lyrics that I could sing my husband.

Lyrics
What would I do without your smart mouth
Drawing me in, and you kicking me out
Got my head spinning, no kidding, I can’t pin you down
What’s going on in that beautiful mind
I’m on your magical mystery ride
And I’m so dizzy, don’t know what hit me, but I’ll be alright
My head’s under water
But I’m breathing fine
You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind
‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I’m winning
‘Cause I give you all, all of me
And you give me all, all of you
How many times do I have to tell you
Even when you’re crying you’re beautiful too
The world is beating you down, I’m around through every move
You’re my downfall, you’re my muse
My worst distraction, my rhythm and blues
I can’t stop singing, it’s ringing, in my head for you
My head’s under water
But I’m breathing fine
You’re crazy and I’m out of my mind
‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I’m winning
‘Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all, all of you
Give me all of you
Cards on the table, we’re both showing hearts
Risking it all, though it’s hard
‘Cause all of me
Loves all of you
Love your curves and all your edges
All your perfect imperfections
Give your all to me
I’ll give my all to you
You’re my end and my beginning
Even when I lose I’m winning
‘Cause I give you all of me
And you give me all of you
I give you all, all of me
And you give me all, all of you

Click play below for Lonestar’s 1999 Amazed!!

Lyrics:

Every time our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I’ve never been this close to anyone or anything
I can hear your thoughts
I can see your dreams

I don’t know how you do what you do
I’m so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever and ever
Every little thing that you do
Baby I’m amazed by you
