#SoCS 5/30/20 – Splay

Linda has given us the prompts of spay/splay/spray for today’s #SoCS.

Our five legged babies to love to just splay themselves all over the house. Their favorite spot is on my bed. I love it when they hang out with me and when they sleep with me. Sometimes though when our Sadie Mae splays herself out and falls asleep at night, she sleeps so hard and most nights I have to maneuver her so that I have room to sleep – not so hard sleeper myself, by the way.

That’s what’s in My Rattled Cage, thanks for stopping by!!

Several pictures of the babies!!

A Little Late #SoCS – Want

socs-badge-2019-2020

This post is part of #SoCS for Saturday 5/16/20 and the prompt is “WANT”.

Want to know what’s in My Rattled Cage? Today I just want to share that this has been a great week. Last week I wanted my trip to my birthplace, which was also the birthplace of  our 33rd president Harry S. TrumanLamar, Missouri to go off without a hitch and it did perfectly. I want to share some pictures from that trip for which the main purpose was for me to place flowers on the graves of my mother who passed on Mother’s Day May 10th, 1998 as well as my grandmothers Ruby who passed at the age of 99 on November 2, 2012 and Wanda who passed at the age of 89 on February 11, 2013. I also placed flowers on my brother Dale Jr’s grave he passed when I was a little over three months old. I also placed flowers on my grandfathers and uncles’ graves as well.

After visiting the graveyards I drove a short drive into Pittsburg, Kansas to eat at a family favorite and tradition Chicken Mary’s. Chicken Mary’s and Chicken Annie’s were featured on the Travel Channels Food Wars Season 1, Episode 3  – Kansas Fried Chicken War. I include the link to the episode; you may have to sign in with you cable service provider to watch. I will not spoil it for you as to which restaurant one the war. My Grand ma Ruby was always a Chicken Annie’s Fan which is located one block away from Chicken Mary’s. My Grandma Wand and our family have always been fans of Chicken Mary’s and a trip to Lamar, Missouri isn’t complete until you have been to Chicken Mary’s.

When I started my trip, my mileage was at 754 and when I returned on Monday the mileage sat 2335.  I have not shared pictures of my new car because I am still pinching myself as I cannot still believe that I am driving a 2020 Mitsubishi Mirage, so I want to share those as well.

The pictures below are in the order that I took them on my trip as I documented my journey. For me this trip was a rite of passage as I have never driven up. I have always flown, taken the Greyhound or ridden with my sister.

Now I will share pictures of my new car the red detail is what sold me on this car. I thought it was so different. That’s what’s in My Rattled Cage, thanks for stopping by!!

#AtoZChallenge2020 – Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah

Z2020

I want to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing some of my favorite music from my Apple Music playlist during the #AtoZChallege2020.  I cannot believe we are already at the end at the letter “Z”.  It seems as though although most of us have been in shelter in place due to the #COVID-19 pandemic, the month of April has just flown by.  I hope that everyone else has enjoyed participating and reading all of the wonderful entries from this year as much as I have.

So, of course I do not have any songs in my playlist with titles that begin with the letter “Z”. That won’t stop me though. I can fall back on an old favorite Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah performed by James Baskett.

The hit song from from Walt Disney’s “Song of the South” released in 1946 was “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”, which won the 1947 Academy Award for Best Song and is frequently used as part of Disney’s montage themes, and which has become widely used  in popular culture. The film inspired the Disney theme park attraction Splash Mountain.  The film was a combination of live action and animation. Disney hired vaudeville and radio actor James Baskett to portray Uncle Remus.

Lyrics
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s “actch’ll”
Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!
Yes, sir
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s “actch’ll”
Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, feeling this way!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It is the truth, it’s “actch’ll”, hm?
Where is that bluebird?
Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!

#AtoZChallenge2020 – Xanadu

X2020

Wow, we are at “X” in this year’s #AtoZChallenge2020 and it amazes me how quickly that has gone by. Believe it or not, I do not have a song whose title starts with an “X”. I had to go way back and pull out Olivia Newton John’s Xanadu.  So I amj showing my age a bit here. I hope you enjoy.

That’s what’s in My Rattled Cage, thanks for stopping by!!!

Xanadu

A place where nobody dared to go
The love that we came to know
They call it Xanadu
And now, open your eyes and see what we have made is real
We are in Xanadu
A million lights are dancing and you are, a shooting star
An everlasting world and you’re here with me, eternally
Xanadu, Xanadu
(Now we are here) in Xanadu
Xanadu, Xanadu
(Now we are here) in Xanadu
Xanadu, your neon lights will shine for you, Xanadu
The love that echoes of long ago
You needed the world to know
They are in Xanadu
The dream that came through a million years
That lived through all the tears
It came to Xanadu
A million light are dancing and you…

Love Is In Da Blog 20 -Love Song(s) for My Pets

IMG_0099

I love this prompt, a love song for your pet. If you know nothing else about me from reading my blog, you do know that I love my four-legged babies Crissy, Little Bitty (granddaughter), Zailey, Sadie and Stitchy! Over 18 years Cruz and I have had two cats and total of 17 dogs. Twelve of the dogs and both cats have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at the time that they were supposed to. Of the dogs that we have had, only two of the 17 were not rescues from the neighborhood, our granddaughter Little Bitty and her big brother Fluffy – they were both born in my bed right next to me and I helped their mama Missy birth them. I am actually choosing two songs. The lyrics are listed below after the videos.

One is an old favorite Cat Steven’s “I Love My Dog”.

The other is one that is just dang funny because it describes many a relationship between a man, woman and his dog – so to speak – Billy Currington’s  “Like My Dog”

Lyrics – I Love My Dog  – Cat Stevens
I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
All he asks from me is the food to give him strength
All he ever needs is love and that he knows he’ll get
So, I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
All the pay I need comes a-shinin’ through his eyes
I don’t need no cold water to make me realize that
I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
I love my dog, baby, I love my dog
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
I said, I love my dog, baby, I love my dog
Baby, I love my dog
Songwriters: Cat Stevens
Lyrics – Like My Dog – Billy Currington
He never tells me that he’s sick of this house
He never says why don’t you get off that couch?
He don’t cost me nothin’ when he wants to go out
I want you to love me like my dog
He never says I need a new attitude
Him and my sister ain’t always in a feud
When I leave the seat up he don’t think that it’s rude
I want you to love me like my dog does, baby!
When I come home, I want you to just go crazy
He never looks at me like he might hate me
I want you to love me like my dog
He never acts like he don’t care for my friends
He never asks me where in the hell have you been?
He don’t play dead when I wanna pet him
I want you to love me like my dog does, honey!
He never says ‘I wish you made more money’
He always thinks that pullin’ my finger’s funny
I want you to love me like my dog
He don’t get mad at me and throw a major fit
When I say his sister is a bitch
I want you to love me like my dog does baby
When I come home, I want you to just go crazy
He never looks at me like he might hate me
I want you to love me like my dog!
I want you to love me like my dog does, baby!

Love Is In Da Blog 19 ~ My Favourite Wedding Song -“Viva Las Vegas” – ZZ TOP

My favourite wedding song is not your normal sappy ballad but a song that will get every member of my family out on the dance floor at the same time. This song is a remake of a famous Elvis Presley song from the movie of the same name.  Let them play ZZ Top’s “Viva Las Vegas” at weddings we attend!! Enjoy!!!

Lyrics
Y’all still want me to come with you?
Bright light city gonna set my soul, gonna set my soul on fire
There’s a whole lot of money that’s ready to burn
So get those stakes up higher.
There’s a thousand pretty women just a-waiting out there,
And they’re all livin’ devil-may-care.
I’m just the devil with a love to spare.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas.
Ah, thank-ya very much baby.
And how I wish that there were more
Than twenty-four hours in the day.
But even if there were forty more,
I wouldn’t sleep a minute away.
Oh, there’s blackjack and poker and a roulette wheel.
A fortune won and lost on every deal.
All you need’s a strong heart and a nerve of steel.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas with your neon flashin’,
And your one-armed bandits crashin’
All those hopes down the drain.
Viva Las Vegas turnin’ day into nighttime,
Turn the night into daytime,
If you see it once, you’ll never come home again.
I’m gonna keep on the run,
I’m gonna have me some fun,
If it costs me my very last dime.
If I wind up broke,
Then I’ll always remember that I had a swingin’ time.
I’m gonna give it everything I’ve got.
Lady Luck please let the dice stay hot.
Let me shoot a seven with every shot.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva Las Vegas.
Viva, Viva.

Late #JusJotJan – January 1st, 2018 -DRAMA

jjj-2018

This is a late post and part of #JusJotJan 1/1/2018.

Drama, drama, drama! It would not be my annual Christmas trip to Shore Acres, Texas to see my two older sisters, their husbands, my three nieces and their husbands and my four beautiful great nieces and my great nephew, without my oldest sister causing a whole lot of drama. Every year we try to plan my trip where I get to spend as much time with everyone, this trip was extremely short 3 1/2 days and three nights so planning did not go quite as planned. For one I arrived into Downtown Houston at 3:30pm instead of the 11:15am arrival I was supposed to have.

I start early on Thursday 12/21 through a family group text to determine our food plans for Christmas day to no avail. Then some other family group texts happened that were of no help. The straw that broke the camels’ back was when my other sister made a suggestion and was asking everyone’s opinion about the entire family doing our big family Christmas moving forward on 12/23 because now with my nieces and their husbands having their things they do on Christmas Eve and the blended families due to divorces etc. – it is very hard to plan anything for Christmas Day because of some of the children being at the other parents house and not always having a clear picture of parental exchanges.

My oldest took it as though the decision had already been made and she was ugly to me and she made my other sister cry because she accused of distancing herself from, which was ridiculous. In the end We all got together on Christmas Day and everyone acted like everything was great. We had a great day. The next day before I left to return to San Antonio, I called my oldest sister and could tell something was wrong – she had a tone. She proceeded to tell me that her Christmas had been f@#@#@# ruined. I did not touch it because lately if we breathe wrong she takes offense.

Finally on Saturday of last week both sisters had a five hour lunch and hashed it all out and as I already said all the DRAMA was because the oldest was not reading or reading things into the family group texts that was no there. Boy am I glad that DRAMA is OVER!!!

That is the drama the has Rattled My Cage!!
