I had my pictures ready yesterday 9/12/20 and I was ready to write this post and then the day just rana way from me. Linda gave us “collar” for our prompt for this week’s #SoCS.

I thought what a perfect prompt because all of our babies got a new collar this week. In order of pictures – Crissy, Little Bitty, our newest baby Lucy, Sadie, Stitchy and Zailey.

We sure do love our babies and I hope every one has a blessed week.

#AtoZChallenge 2019 Tenth Anniversary blogging from A to Z challenge letter J

#AtoZChallenge “J”

So many things give me joy today as a recovering alcoholic and cocaine addict’ The fact that I am clean and sober just for today – joy! My husband of over 18 years through thick and thin – joy! My awesome family in Shore Acres, League City, Seabrook, Texas city, TX and my dad and stepmother in McDonald, TN that have shown nothing but love, compassion and support in all my ups and downs- joy! My new St. Phillip of Jesus Catholic Church parish family – joy! My most HOLY friends the Sisters of the Holy Spirit – joy, joy, joy! My other friends that I have had for two decades – joy!

But the most awesome joy providing things in my life is why we celebrate NATIONAL PET (FOUR LEGGED BABIES) DAY on April 11, 2019; our  Crissy, Little Bitty, Zailey, Sadie, and Stichy !! They are my joy and they love us so unconditionally that my heart just leaps when I walk in the door from being somewhere.

On Monday April 1st our youngest Sadie and Stitchy, sister and brother, turned 2 years old. One of my favorite pictures is when they were babies and they wanted to eat my Oscar the Grouch puppet.

Every year on their birthday or around the time they came into our home our dogs receive their own birthday cake meatloaf that they share with there pack mates. The only ingredients are ground beef, unsalted crackers, eggs, peanut butter and milk. After cooking it is iced with white icing and then decorated with ketchup. I have been doing this for years and they love it!!!

The last picture is of course our Crissy, Stitchy, Sadie, Zailey and Little Bitty!!

Of course yes I do have a song. The very first song released by Cat Stevens in 1967 – I Love My Dog for your enjoyment!!!

Love Is In Da Blog 20 -Love Song(s) for My Pets

IMG_0099

I love this prompt, a love song for your pet. If you know nothing else about me from reading my blog, you do know that I love my four-legged babies Crissy, Little Bitty (granddaughter), Zailey, Sadie and Stitchy! Over 18 years Cruz and I have had two cats and total of 17 dogs. Twelve of the dogs and both cats have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge at the time that they were supposed to. Of the dogs that we have had, only two of the 17 were not rescues from the neighborhood, our granddaughter Little Bitty and her big brother Fluffy – they were both born in my bed right next to me and I helped their mama Missy birth them. I am actually choosing two songs. The lyrics are listed below after the videos.

One is an old favorite Cat Steven’s “I Love My Dog”.

The other is one that is just dang funny because it describes many a relationship between a man, woman and his dog – so to speak – Billy Currington’s  “Like My Dog”

Lyrics – I Love My Dog  – Cat Stevens
I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
All he asks from me is the food to give him strength
All he ever needs is love and that he knows he’ll get
So, I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
All the pay I need comes a-shinin’ through his eyes
I don’t need no cold water to make me realize that
I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
I love my dog as much as I love you
But you may fade, my dog will always come through
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
Na, na, na, na, na, na, nana
I love my dog, baby, I love my dog
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
I said, I love my dog, baby, I love my dog
Baby, I love my dog
Songwriters: Cat Stevens
Lyrics – Like My Dog – Billy Currington
He never tells me that he’s sick of this house
He never says why don’t you get off that couch?
He don’t cost me nothin’ when he wants to go out
I want you to love me like my dog
He never says I need a new attitude
Him and my sister ain’t always in a feud
When I leave the seat up he don’t think that it’s rude
I want you to love me like my dog does, baby!
When I come home, I want you to just go crazy
He never looks at me like he might hate me
I want you to love me like my dog
He never acts like he don’t care for my friends
He never asks me where in the hell have you been?
He don’t play dead when I wanna pet him
I want you to love me like my dog does, honey!
He never says ‘I wish you made more money’
He always thinks that pullin’ my finger’s funny
I want you to love me like my dog
He don’t get mad at me and throw a major fit
When I say his sister is a bitch
I want you to love me like my dog does baby
When I come home, I want you to just go crazy
He never looks at me like he might hate me
I want you to love me like my dog!
I want you to love me like my dog does, baby!

Blogging from A to Z April 2018 Challenge

Well this an easy post. If you do not know anything about me from my previous posts, I am a dog lover and consider all of my four legged fur babies to be my kids. My husband Cruz and I currently have seven in the order they cam e in the house: Missy, Crissy, Little Bitty, Zailey, Sadie and her brother Stitchy and Tippy. Stitchy and Tippy are named in honor of our original Stitchy who crossed the Rainbow Bridge 12/26/2016 after almost 11 1/2 years and Tippy who crossed on 1/4/2016 after 8 years.

In our over 17 years together we have had a total of 17 dogs and 2 cats. Sadly over the years we have sent 10 dogs and 1 cat over the Rainbow Bridge. One of my cats flew the coop in early 2002 not long after I moved in with Cruz. Only two dogs out of the 17 were not rescues – Little Bitty and her brother Fluffy whose mother is our Missy. Their fathers were our original Stitchy and his best friend , our Buddy. God brings us these babies to love and cherish for as long as he will have us keep them. We are blessed to share our love with God’s creatures!!!

#SoCS Feb. 10/18 – tail/tale

socs-badge-2017-18-e1503097084778

This post is part of #SoCS Feb. 10/18.

So this is a tale of why my shadow Stitchy follows me around constantly.

IMG_0581

Full disclosure a large portion of this post comes from the linked article 4 Reasons Your Dog Follows You Everywhere written by Cheryl Lock on PetMD.com. While I love the constant companionship, I do often wonder what in the world is going on and why is he so clingy. In my defense or against my defense, Stitchy is my favorite because he is my only boy and I already told my husband Cruz – no matter what we will not have any more boys because of our previous experience.

Why Your Dog Is Following You, Scientifically Speaking

If your dog follows you around constantly, you’ll likely either find it incredibly endearing or you’ll be tired of almost tripping over him all the time. Either way, it helps to understand some of the science behind why your dog might be constantly at your side.

  1. Imprinting. Early ethologist Konrad Lorenz showed how baby geese imprinted on him — or came to recognize him as a parent or other object of trust — by following him everywhere, including into the water. “Puppies can imprint on people, as well,” said Burch. “The imprinting period for puppies is between three and 12 weeks old.”

  2. Reinforcement. Often dogs will follow their owners if their bond is paired over time with a great deal of reinforcement. For example, “if a dog learns that good things — such as food, pats and fun activities — come from a particular human, they may be more likely to follow that person,” says Burch.

  3. Breed traits. Some breeds, especially those that have been bred for centuries to work with people, are more likely to be what Burch calls “Velcro dogs” (or those that stick by your side).

  4. Companionship. Perhaps the most obvious reason, some dogs simply prefer the companionship of their human friends. “Over the process of domestication, natural selection has shaped dogs to become companions for humans,” said Laurie Santos, PhD, a professor of psychology and director of the Canine Cognition Center at Yale University. “Domesticated dogs are now ‘bonded’ with humans in some of the same ways as human children. In this sense, our bond with dogs is one that has evolved over the course of domestications.

So my tale is that because I rescued Stitchy and his sister Sadie from being abandoned when they were just about 12 weeks old my boy has imprinted himself upon me. Yet, as mentioned before I am the dada that does all the reinforcement in our house, it is a never ending battle trying to get Cruz to do reinforcement as well. Of course Stitchy loves his dada Gregory because he is the best dada in the world!!! P.S. – he does love his daddy Cruz also!!!
