Love Is In Da Blog 15 ~ A Love Song from 1999-2008 & Prompt Post for February 16th
I waited so late to write this post because I wanted to get it posted as close to the end of the night as possible. My tribute is to my husband Cruz first, and then also his mother Amelia.
Tomorrow February 14th, 2019 Cruz and I celebrate our 18th Anniversary. Mind you we are not married per se because I do not believe in same sex marriage because of my faith. My Catholic faith teaches me that while marriage between a man and woman is for love, the main purpose is for procreation. Cruz and I will not be procreating ever even though we have had many four -legged children in our 18 years.
Cruz and I are just as married as any couple that has ever had a ceremony. We have our trials and tribulations – many of them my doing, yet we have made the commitment to love, cherish and honor each other through sickness and health, richer or poorer, good times or bad until death separates us. I am extremely blessed that this man has loved and supported me through all my chronic relapses and returns recovery.
He is compassionate, empathetic, non-emotional (we are working on that), and extremely loving. God knew what he was doing when he made Cruz call information in January 2001 to find my number because he needed a friend.
Cruz truly is my savior beside my God and Jesus Christ. If it were not for him and hi love, patience and compassion – I would probably be dead, in jail or in prison. His mother has truly blessed me with her love and laughter as well for our entire 18 years. She came into my just a little before 3 years after my own mother had passed, so in essence she is my mother and I love her more than she will ever know!!

Petrified means hardened. In the case of human opinion, a hardened opinion allows no room for interaction with the hearts and minds of others with sufficient humility to allow ourselves to see new possibilities. Larger, better possibilities. Loyal ownership of an errant view is misplaced loyalty that at best may lead to our distraction. At worst, to our destruction.
I ask you, does this sound like somebody we all know? Like someone whose petrified opinions about almost everything in regard to running the United States is wreaking havoc on our citizens and our allies?
Love Is In Da Blog 12 ~ A Love Song from 1969-1978 & Prompt Post for February 13th
There are always remakes of songs and movies and most the time the remakes suck. I am aware that Whitney Houston’s version of this song for the soundtrack of The Bodyguard was extremely successful and hit number one again after her death. For me, in 1974 the ORIGINAL Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You” has been and will always be my favorite. This song was written by Dolly as tribute to Dolly’s longtime music partner the legendary country music star Porter Wagoner as she was setting out on her solo career.
So, for your viewing pleasure I present:
Some weekends just fall right into place and everything you do or say is right on time. This weekend was one of those weekends. It has been very cold in San Antonio for the last few days which has given me the chance to work on a couple of things and to celebrate one new very important thing. I write often and say how I am an open book and while I understand that a lot of what I write or even talk about may be a hinderance to my current situation of looking for employment in my field even though I am working with Social Security for Disability.
If does not come through and I must keep fighting or re-apply in a few months – then I must be able bring money into our home. When I am not working, I feel very useless and unproductive because I am not one to truly rely on anybody unless I just must. Unfortunately, over the years because of my depression, bipolar affectation disorder, chronic spine issues and of course my issues of chronic relapse, there have plenty of times that I have had to be totally reliant upon my husband. Mind you, Cruz has been a true angel and savior for me, but I do not like putting that pressure on him.
So back to this last weekend. On Saturday I spent most of the day working on the layout of “My Rattled Cage” and I am in love with the way it looks and the new additions to the site. Sunday, I started off in the “Each One Teach One” video meeting with Global Steps AA on InTheRooms.com, Then I went to 8AM mass at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, which is a every Sunday routine for me. After I attended the “A Spiritual Life” video meeting.
The most important thing that I did was to attend a Closed Meeting with my home group, The Goliad Group to pick up a BRAND-NEW 30-Day Chip. I am truly blessed that I have a meeting place that is less than 10 minutes from my house. I more blessed because no matter how long it takes me to get back to my home group, they always welcome me with open arms. That is the greatest thing about the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous, no matter if you are going to a face to face meeting or attending online video meetings – you are always welcomed back and strongly encouraged to “Keep Coming Back, It Works if you Work It!!!”
This morning as I was preparing to write this post, I was searching for a good picture of the Serenity Prayer and I actually found the full version and it just reminded me that yes the promises can come true if you simply work the program and keep your relationship with your Higher Power, whom I choose to call God.
