I want to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed sharing some of my favorite music from my Apple Music playlist during the #AtoZChallege2020.  I cannot believe we are already at the end at the letter “Z”.  It seems as though although most of us have been in shelter in place due to the #COVID-19 pandemic, the month of April has just flown by.  I hope that everyone else has enjoyed participating and reading all of the wonderful entries from this year as much as I have.

So, of course I do not have any songs in my playlist with titles that begin with the letter “Z”. That won’t stop me though. I can fall back on an old favorite Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah performed by James Baskett.

The hit song from from Walt Disney’s “Song of the South” released in 1946 was “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah”, which won the 1947 Academy Award for Best Song and is frequently used as part of Disney’s montage themes, and which has become widely used  in popular culture. The film inspired the Disney theme park attraction Splash Mountain.  The film was a combination of live action and animation. Disney hired vaudeville and radio actor James Baskett to portray Uncle Remus.

I hate for this year’s #AtoZChallenge2020 to end. Yet, here we are at the letter “Y”. Today I have chosen Jeremy Camp’s You Never Let Go from my Apple Music playlist. You never let go has always been an important reminder when I hear ti because no matter how far I fall into my alcoholism or addiction of cocaine., my Higher Power whom I choose to call God has never let go of me. Have I let go of him, many times. Yet, I always return to my faith and I know He never let’s go!!!!

Wow, we are at “X” in this year’s #AtoZChallenge2020 and it amazes me how quickly that has gone by. Believe it or not, I do not have a song whose title starts with an “X”. I had to go way back and pull out Olivia Newton John’s Xanadu.  So I amj showing my age a bit here. I hope you enjoy.

The letter “U” is one that is really cool, but there are not as many song titles that do start with the letter “Q”. For today’s entry into #AtoZChallenge2020 I actually do have a great song from the 1970’s. I have chosen Sonny and Cher’s United We Stand. The United States of America has the word UNITED in the country name. In my 53 years I have never seen our country so DIVIDED as it is now. Yes, we have definitely had many decades of different turmoil’s, but during this first term of the current occupant of The White House and now this pandemic has truly shown the horrible true colors of the division in this GREAT country that I live in.

I long for the day when we have a leader that does unite this country and returns us to the status of UNITED to the best of their ability. That’s what’s in  My Rattled Cage, thanks for stopping by!!!!

It has been a busy week. Hard to believe we are already at “T” in the #AtoZChallenge2020 and I am a bit late on this one. But here we are. Throughout my musical journey through my extensive Apple Music playlist the majority of songs have been regarding my faith and how it affects my struggles with relapse and recovery. Today, I have chosen something out of that realm because the lyrics are really cool to think about as we wind our way through this pandemic and trying to get our lives back to some normalcy.

#AtoZChallenge2020 – An “R” Four Fer

We have the letter “R” today for the #AtoZChallenge2020. As I am moving through my Apple Music playlist, I find that I have almost 50 songs that start with “R”. So today I am going to have a “R” Four Fer. Each of these holds a definite place in my heart because of their messages and the way they have touched me throughout my many battles through relapse and recovery.

I have chosen Jordan Feliz’s The River because whenever I am in a weird space I will head to the San Antonio River,  which I live very close to the Mission Reach of the river, with my four legged babies and we will get in and I can sit and just pray and I always feel at peace. I have also chosen two songs by Jeremy Camp Revive Me and Restored. Revive Me is a song that reminds that every day I can ask my Higher Power whom I choose to call God to revive me of my serenity and to help stay clean and sober on a daily basis. Restored is a reminder that asking God to revive me I can feel that wonderful spirit of serenity and know that all will be well in the world.

We are at the letter “Q” for the #AtoZChallenge2020 and while I have been sharing music from my extensive Apple Music playlist, I have nothing for the letter “Q”. So, I decided to do some searching for some songs whose titles start with “Q” and I found a gem of Smokey Robinson’s.  Quiet Storm and I actually found a studio session of the legendary Smokey Robinson and one of my all time favorites John Legend.
